Columbus, Ohio (On-site 4 days/week, 1 day remote once established)
We are partnering with a growing organization in Columbus, Ohio to hire a Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in processing payroll for employees, supporting the finance and accounting team, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality in all payroll functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain and update employee payroll records (new hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits, deductions)
- Calculate wages, bonuses, deductions, and adjustments in compliance with policies and regulations
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries
- Partner with payroll provider on tax filings, reporting, and issue resolution
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries with accuracy and professionalism
- Assist with audits and prepare supporting documentation
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll information
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups)
- Knowledge of payroll systems and basic accounting practices
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (not required)
