Environmental Coordinator Principal

The Environmental Coordinator Principal is responsible for coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals within their assigned region, plant and project scope. Responsibilities include providing training, guidance and other necessary support to business unit leadership and staff on applicable environmental requirements, identifying applicable environmental requirements associated with Company assets and projects, and coordinating with the appropriate business unit staff, Environmental Services representatives, contractors, and external parties to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
 
**Onsite - Candidate is expected to live within 60 miles of the facility in Hallsville, TX

The Environmental Coordinator Principal should have an advanced understanding of the following environmental programs:
  • Aboveground storage tanks
  • Transportation of hazardous materials
  • Solid and hazardous waste management
  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures
  • Storm water, reporting and control
  • Oil and chemical spill response and management
  • Air emissions monitoring, control and reporting
  • Pollution prevention, and
  • Emergency planning, and community right-to-know.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinate and implement all environmental activities, plans, and permits with the construction of the Hallsville Plant to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and Company policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals.
  • Assist and provide input to Environmental Services on the development of Company environmental policies and procedures. Communicate deviations appropriately.
  • Provide training, instruction and assistance to others on the implementation of environmental requirements and assist in the development of environmental training materials.
  • Provide support in the event of a release or discharge of a regulated substance including making agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing cleanup efforts if necessary and completing follow-up reports with regulatory agencies.
  • Promote and enforce (see something, say something, do something) safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and Company facilities.
  • Provide support during environmental compliance reviews.
  • Coordinate and respond to public inquiries regarding environmental matters.
  • Develop and maintain environmental documents and records in accordance with environmental content management standards.
 
Qualifications:
  • Key competencies of this position are technical expertise, planning and organization ability, problem solving, written and oral communication skills and initiative.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and with limited to no supervision and assume manager responsibilities in the absence of direct management.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in an environmental, science, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of twelve years of environmental experience with an associate degree or ten years of environmental experience with a bachelor's degree.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Physical demand ranges from sedentary to light duty.
  • Must be available by phone after work hours and weekends; frequency is minimal.
