Project Cost Analyst
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Cost Analyst / Project Controls Specialist to support financial planning and cost management across multiple projects. This role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost tracking while partnering with project teams to ensure accurate financial performance and reporting. Ideal candidates bring strong analytical skills, experience with project financials, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

- Support project managers with cost analysis, budgeting, and financial planning activities
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts (including accruals), and cash flow projections
- Perform variance analysis, cost tracking, and estimate-to-actual comparisons
- Coordinate and document project financial meetings and reporting activities
- Implement cost plans, work breakdown structures, and resource allocations aligned to project schedules
- Maintain project financial records, including work orders and unvouchered liabilities
- Support procurement processes, including requisitions, bidding, and contract cost tracking
- Communicate financial performance, risks, and updates to project stakeholders
- Develop and track KPIs related to cost and forecast accuracy
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to gather cost and performance data
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive efficiency in project controls
- Ensure compliance with project management standards, governance, and financial controls
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- OR Associate degree with additional relevant experience
- 6+ years (Bachelor's) or 8+ years (Associate's) of experience in project controls, cost analysis, or financial management
- Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting (including accruals), and variance analysis
- Experience with cost tracking, financial reporting, and project accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
- Experience in utilities, construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with project controls and cost management systems (e.g., EcoSys or similar tools)
- Knowledge of procurement processes and their impact on project cost and schedule
- Experience developing KPIs and performance metrics
- Understanding of project management governance and financial compliance (e.g., SOX)
- Proven ability to identify process improvements and enhance operational efficiency
