In this role, the Sr. Software Developer will design and develop solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to both technical planning and delivery. This position requires someone who can work independently, think through complex problems, and take ownership of solutions from design through implementation.This is a hybrid role based in Columbus, Ohio. Candidates must reside in the Columbus area. In-office attendance will align with the department’s schedule, which is determined collaboratively by the team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Partner closely with Business Systems Analysts (BSA) and QA teams to develop a shared understanding of requirements before development begins
- Collaborate with technical leaders to design solutions and evaluate tools and technologies
- Participate as an active member of the scrum team, with flexibility to work within waterfall or project-based delivery models
- Design and architect solutions for complex problems where a straightforward path is not present — this includes evaluating third-party products, engaging internal teams, and driving Proof of Concept (POC) efforts with senior technical resources
- Fulfill on-call responsibilities as needed to support production systems
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of Enterprise Java (JEE) or C++ experience depending on role
- Expertise in writing and consuming both SOAP and REST web services
- Experience with Spring modules including Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Boot
- Experience with Node.js and Handlebars templating
- Familiarity with JSON and XML data handling, API error resiliency, and logging/monitoring
- Experience interacting with databases using Oracle SQL
- Proficiency with Postman for API development and testing
- Experience with Git, Maven, and writing unit and integration tests
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLM-based code generation) to enhance code quality and developer velocity
- Ability to apply AI-driven techniques in software design, refactoring, debugging, and documentation
